Polina Tien (Shemrakova) is a graphic designer and illustrator with over ten years of experience in visual communications ★
Her love for the arts began in childhood and continues to inspire her work today. Ironically enough, her serious career path began in journalism. She’s been working as a photo editor at a major newspaper, but never fully let go of the creative field. For a while, she’s been taking on freelance design and illustration projects in addition to her main job, and eventually chose to make the side gig full-time.
Since then, she’s gained expertise both as a freelancer and as an agency designer, and has had the chance to collaborate with a number of big-name brands – particularly Lavazza, her primary client for more than three years. Some of her main sources of inspiration include the works of Tadanori Yokoo, pencil drawings, stop-motion animation, and random fruit stickers (which she collects).
She’s half-Russian and half-Vietnamese. Originally from Moscow, she left Russia in 2022 and traveled around for a while. She currently resides in Serbia.
She’s staunchly anti-war and is pro-Ukraine.
